The Publishing Shop

This program will give students a chance to publish some of their best written work. Writings will be contained in books with covers that are covered in fabric, bound with colored duct tape, and include a title/dedication page as well as information “about the author”.

Volunteers are needed for every aspect of this wonderful program, both in front (volunteering in the shop itself) and behind the scenes (in the comfort of your home either assembling book covers, cutting fabric, or donating fabric or supplies, such as glue sticks, tacky glue, scissors, construction paper, sharpies and markers).

  • VOLUNTEER IN THE SHOP-(located in the teacher work room)
Assist children in putting their books together. Volunteer shifts are generally 2 hours in length.
    MORNING – 8:45 to 10:45 a.m.
    AFTERNOON – 12:30 to 2:30 p.m
At this time, we will be scheduling volunteers to work in the publishing shop on an “as needed basis”. If you would like to be added to our contact list, please send an e-mail to Dawn Davis.
ASSEMBLE BOOK COVERS. All materials are provided. Bags of cardboard, glue and instructions can be picked up or sent home with your child.
CUT FABRIC FOR COVERS. Materials are provided for you to cut at home. Requires fabric scissors.
DONATE FABRIC. It takes a piece at least 23 1/2” x 14 1/2” for one book.
DONATE SUPPLIES. Colored duct tape, glue bottles, tacky glue, sharp scissors, colored construction paper, sharpies, markers.
