Windermere Ukulele Orchestra

The Windermere Ukulele Orchestra returns again this year! The WUO will continue to be a performance based program featuring multiple culminating spring performances, but will be offered as a Windermere After-School Enrichment Program and will be an open lottery to 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students. New applications are not guaranteed a spot. Returning members of WUO who submit their applications and checks by September 11th are guaranteed a spot. Mr. Hudson limits the number of WUO members based on interest and volunteer support. All fees are donated entirely to the Windermere PTO. Mr. Hudson volunteers his time for free. All lottery forms are due to Mr. Hudson on September 2nd by 3 p.m.

Parents of students who are randomly selected via the lottery will be notified by September 8th via email.

The fee for the year-long class is $50. Check should be made out to "Windermere PTO" and are due to Mr. Hudson's mailbox by September 11th. Checks not received by September 11 th will result in offering the opportunity to other interested students.

This year, it is the parent/student responsible to purchase the ukulele for the class. Ukulele recommendations are listed within the second half of the form. Please read before making a purchase. Students must have a playable ukulele, a gig bag or case with student's name, and a tuner.

If you cannot afford this opportunity, please see Mr. Hudson directly for WUO scholarship information generously provided by the Windermere PTO.

Classes will meet most Wednesdays (see below) from 3 till 4 p.m. in the Orchestra Room. Note: we will NOT meet on Early Release days. It is important that students remember to bring their instrument for each scheduled class date.

Walking Wednesday

Change Your Way. Walk UA!

Why walk?
• Physical activity
• Teach safe walking skills to children
• Awareness of how walkable our community is and where improvements can be made
• Concern for the environment
• Reducing traffic congestion, pollution and speed near schools
• Sharing time with community parents and children

How do I participate in Walking Wednesdays?

You can meet at one of the four designated locations (on the back of this flyer) at the specified time, or join a group en route, or walk to school with your family. Or hop on your bike or scooter!

Bus rider? No problem! Have a parent take you to one of the four route starting points.

Breakfast on the Green

Thanks to PTO for providing breakfast for the students and parents on the first day of school. The kids were eager to see their friends, get their picture taken on the famous Windermere rock, and start the first day of school. It was so great to see the kids so excited for school. The teachers at Windermere Elementary are a big reason that our children enjoy coming to school. We are enthusiastic for the new school year and we have some exciting events planned for the year.

Thanks again for a marvelous response!
